Timberlake History

David B. Timberlake knew Oklahoma City needed a new kind of construction company, one that valued relationships over bottom lines. With a few thousand dollars in his pocket, Dave founded Timberlake Construction in 1976.

The son of an architect, Dave grew up surrounded by design, engineering, and construction. As a young man, he worked on jobsites during the summer which fostered his desire to seek a degree in Architectural Engineering from Oklahoma State University. After he graduated, he joined the Army Corps of Engineers. Through his various experiences, Dave learned the value of people and relationships. After completing his time with the military, he joined a noted construction firm based in Washington, D.C. Eventually, Dave returned to his Oklahoma roots and spent some time getting to know the local market. Deciding it was time to make his dream a reality, Dave took the leap and started Timberlake Construction. He found a building off Classen Boulevard in OKC, and made it the foundation of this new venture. In fact, we’re still housed in that original building (though it has changed a bit over the years).

During the early days of Timberlake Construction, Dave’s desire to help a friend was the catalyst to a 30 year relationship in which he served as not just a general contractor, but as a true partner in designing and building more than 120 projects. This simple idea of helping people is what built the Timberlake legacy, one job at a time.

Following this philosophy, Timberlake Construction still boasts repeat clients, a testament to the success of Dave’s dream. We carry this dream forward as we collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors on each project we build.

As the company expanded and time passed, it became clear to Dave it was time to start preparing for the next leader of Timberlake. His son Bryan had grown up in the family tradition, watching his father work in construction his entire life. Bryan had a strong background in the construction industry, but Dave encouraged him to spend some time exploring other career paths to ensure that the management of Timberlake Construction was right for him and the company.

Bryan worked in every department within the company before stepping into the role of President & CEO in 2009. He now leads the company and sets the standard for true operational excellence.

In Timberlake Construction’s 40 plus year history, we have learned to persevere and have grown into the successful, thriving company operating to this day.

Everyone who is a part of Team Timberlake knows our history and the mission behind our work. We continue to build on Dave’s foundation of establishing relationships, solving problems, and working together to create a positive experience for all involved.
