Summary
The Winding Creek Elementary School project included a 4,000 square foot office addition and remodel and a 6,100 square foot, four classroom pod addition that doubles as a tornado shelter for students to utilize. The Houchin Elementary School project included a 3,000 square foot office addition and remodel and a 6,500 square foot, four classroom pod addition that doubles as a tornado shelter.
With the devastating tornado in May of 2013, it was necessary to build tornado shelters throughout all of Moore Public Schools for the safety of students. Safe rooms doubling as a classroom, gym or cafetorium are simply an added bonus.
